1:1 Kambo sessions
Three years ago, I trained with the Brazilian tribe Huni Kuin to serve Kambo. In the last three years, to get to know and understand Kambo on a deeper level, I served myself personally over 150 times. I served myself anywhere from microdose sizes to substantial amounts to learn the subtle differences. I have served around 20 sessions now to friends and family. I am confident in understanding this medicine and how to facilitate others through the experience. My doors are open as long as we are a good fit to work together. A video meeting is required to find that understanding between us first.
I will only be facilitating a maximum of two people in a session. One on One or couples sessions allows for sharing specific goals and intentions in confidentiality, individualized attention, specialized attention to empaths or purge sensitivity, to not have to hold back what the experience brings for you because others are present.
What is Kambo?
Kambo is a healing ritual used mainly in South America. Kambo is a secretion of the giant monkey frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor. The frog secretes the substance as a defense mechanism to kill or subdue animals that try to eat it.
What do people use kambo for?
Indigenous people have used kambo for centuries to heal and cleanse the body by strengthening its natural defenses and warding off bad luck. Kambo has been used in masculine rites of passage or to increase stamina and hunting skills. These days shamans and naturopathic practitioners still use it for cleansing the body of toxins, as well as treating numerous health conditions like addiction, Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, cancer, chronic pain, depression, diabetes, hepatitis, HIV and AIDS, infections, infertility, rheumatism, immune disorders, and vascular conditions. Like many of the medicines I work with, they apply to many levels of healing, from the physical to the mental/emotional and the spiritual, more abstract energetic levels of healing.
What does Kambo feel like?
A Kambo ritual generally involves drinking around 1 liter of water or cassava soup. Subsequently, the therapist or Kambo practitioner creates minor burns via a glowing timber, often around 3-5, traditionally at the ankle or upper arm. After scraping away the blistered skin, the secretion is applied to the wound, reaching the lymphatic system and quickly the bloodstream. The first symptoms reported are a rush of heat, redness of the face, and promptly emerging nausea and vomiting, dizziness, and fascial edema, sometimes following within minutes.
Kambo is not a comfortable experience. I believe Kambo is very effective in releasing somatic trauma held in the body. The presence of peptides called Phyllomedusin, Phyllocaerulien, Bombesisns, and Phyllolitorin cause purging by vomiting, shaking, crying, sweating, or using the bathroom. Kambo stimulates the immune system through the activation of the lymphatic system and digestive systems, which release toxins, helping to eliminate impurities and cleanse the body of all the old narratives held within. Kambo also releases Deltorphin and Dermorphin, which relieve and reduce pain, and moderate mood, giving a sense of peace and calm. From my research, like many other psychedelics, this medicine heals the receptors in the brain that receive all the natural feel-good chemicals rather than burning them out through Western psych meds. I personally always feel rejuvenated and full of energy after a session. Many people report needing rest, essential to integrate the session, but typically feel cleansed and renewed on all levels. Having a trained Kambo practitioner with much experience is very important. To know the medicine well enough to know how much to apply to start and how much to add as the session unfolds, and how to navigate the effects of the treatment, also someone with other healing modalities or integration training is always a big plus in my eyes.
I lost most of my sight within two years due to an eye disease called Keratoconus, which was an indescribably scary time. One of the most miraculous benefits I have received from Kambo was the magnificent improvement of vision in both eyes. I have received incredible relief and healing from this medicine over the last three years.
The spirit of the frog feels like an incredibly old and wise man. The way I sing and the sounds that come through my voice have embraced this medicine over time. He has shown me that one of the essential parts of growing and healing is learning to be comfortable with the most uncomfortable sensations and feelings that come with being human. He pushes me to my tipping point of pain and discomfort and then allows the most still and calm waters within to flow. I felt the frog's hurt and pain as the medicine was extracted from the frog's glands. I felt the spirit of the frog telling me not to feel bad for him that he chooses to endure pain and discomfort to pass down healing, and that is where healing truly comes full circle. To be able to give back what we have received in service. If you would like to read more research, there is a good website called the International Kambo Association of Kambo Practitioners (IAKP.org).
