how do i bring spirituality into my life?
I was having a difficult time out of nowhere before leaving for this trip to receive medicine and healing in the Amazon jungle of Peru. I was feeling deficient in energy, struggling to find inspiration for my work and my partnership. I will go into more detail about what I was diagnosed with in my stomach, my experience, and how I felt after that.
I find it ironic that I left on the day of the Christian Passover. Christian Passover and exodus foreshadow a future deliverance and redemption for all those who believe in God through Jesus Christ. It also shows that God is for us and not against us. I find this all very ironic as I was raised a Protestant Christian. I believe in the story of Jesus, in the symbology that lies beneath almost every religious story or mythology.
The source of human consciousness, spirit, or power is considered Divine in most religious and cultural traditions, from ancient Greek and Hindu teachings to Chinese and Mayan. Each culture expresses its view of the transformations and passageways of the universal spiritual journey, the hero's journey. Most every culture's myths recount Divine interaction with humanity in stories of gods mating with human beings to produce god-like and half-god-like offspring. The only unique story to this parable is the Jewish tradition because Yahweh is never depicted as being a sexual being. God is referred to as having a right and left hand, but the description never goes below the waist. Unlike other religious traditions, Jews only transferred limited human qualities to Yahweh, maintaining a more distant relationship with their inaccessible divine nature.
When Christianity appeared on the religious scene, Jewish followers still gave their God a human body calling him Jesus, the son of God. Christianity's great heresy, for other Jews, was to cross the biological divide and begin their new theology with a bio-spiritual event – The Annunciation. Gabriel announces to the Virgin Mary that she has shown great favor to the lord and is to bear a son and call him Jesus. The implication is that God is the biological father of this child. Suddenly abstract divine principle in Judaism called Yahweh was mating with a human woman. Physical theology, and now man is made in the 'Image of God.'
Jews and Christians alike believed our physical bodies to be like God's. Contemporary theological writings have challenged that physical likeness, revising it as spiritual likeness. Still, initially, the same notion of the "Image of God,' remains a significant archetypical aspect of Judeo-Christian tradition. This is common among cultures of the spiritual myth that human beings are compelled to merge with the essence of God, that we want the divine in our bones, blood, and mental/emotional makeup.
At our best, we are compassionate and capable of forgiveness and love; then God must be only love; we try to be just, and divine justice must rule over our effort to balance right and wrong. In Eastern traditions, Divine justice is the law of karma; in the Christain world, it underlies the golden rule. We have woven the divine into our lives, thoughts, and actions.
I am regaining my spiritual authority, dismantling old religions and classic parent-child authority, and into spiritual adulthood. This includes interpreting the deeper meaning of the spiritual language of the body. As this unfolds, we recognize the impact of our thoughts and behavior, attitudes – inner life – physical health, and external lives. We no longer need to believe in an external parent-God, that creates for us and on whom we are entirely dependent. Accepting responsibility for our lives and health and co-creating is, in fact, the essence of spiritual adulthood, the exercise of choice, and acceptance of our responsibility for our choices. Managing the power of choice is the divine challenge, the sacred contract we are here to fulfill. We then find our divine authority, co-creating our physical bodies, thoughts, and attitudes.
All of these sacred texts and myths throughout history tell us that our life's purpose is to understand and develop the power of our health and spirit, the power that is vital to our mental and physical well-being. Abusing this power depletes our energy and spirit and siphons the life force out of our physical bodies, creating physical and mental illness. Divinity is inherent in our biological systems; every thought that crosses our minds, a belief we nurture, and every memory we cling to translates into a positive or negative command to our bodies and spirits. It is a miracle to see ourselves through this lens, but also extraordinarily terrifying and intimidating because no part of our lives is powerless or even private. Once this truth becomes apparent, you can never live an ordinary life again.
I am not a savior, not Jesus by any means, but I came here to heal myself and help and guide some people. Awareness of our physical health is the first step in regaining spiritual health. Healthy mind, body, heart, and soul. I am excited to announce, to release within the next month my in-person and online program, "Be Your Own Savior." A program guided to reinvigorating your spiritual power and authority into every aspect of your life.
