my pendamic reality
2021. The first painting I ever did in the depths of the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 was called 'La Purga.' I spent this year purposefully alone and sexually abstinent. Using different tantric practices to guide me on my healing journey and create my vision.
Just like any 'negative' experience we have as humans, there is always a purpose and lessons to bring to light in our existence. For me, the pandemic came with lessons in a deeper understanding and compassion for human suffering. It was also a big 'high five' for treating my body so well in this life.
I rarely become ill, and over the last two years, I got very sick for over a week on two occasions. I did not get tested because I was turned down the first time and just went into quarantine for the second time. On both events, I could barely get off the couch, with what felt like the most intense growing pains I have ever experienced in all of my bones. Thankfully, due to my lifestyle and how I treat my body, I could fight whatever horrible sickness it was off.
The pandemic was a testament to what it truly means to respect life and our personal temple. Through this, we can better appreciate and honor all life and temples around us. The pandemic was a purge to me of what medicine used to be known as, putting bandaids on symptoms through pharmaceuticals, ironically creating more illness. A new powerful way of treatment through preventative measures is by being more aware of what we put into our bodies and what we do with our bodies, mind, and spirit daily. An opening of ourselves to the magic and medicine behind more abstract forms of healing.
The pandemic, for me, was also a purge of an old victim story mindset. I have always been a freedom fighter, but even then, I was trapped behind and behaving out of pain. It was a time to lean into the power of my vision and prayer.
