what is a death portal? what is a nagi?
Something relevant between all beings courageous enough to face the path of healing the spirit and soul will encounter what westerners like to call 'death portals'. These are considered portions of our journey where we might be bringing to light the darker and more animalistic parts of ourselves. People have said it to be a time of shedding, but for me, I consider it a time of becoming more aware, integrating, and directing these shadow or animalistic parts of ourselves into our souls own unique gifts and purpose. Specifically in the shamanic path, these can feel quite inexplicably beautiful and strenuous. A shaman will not only make you encounter these metaphorical deaths in the psychedelic medicine space but also in life, sometimes even bringing you to the brink of actual physical death and back.
Over the last nine years on this path, I have experienced many of these ceremonial metaphysical deaths and extensive 'death portals' in my life. One in particular that feels most beautifully intense over the last few months and months to come. In many indigenous traditions, they believe that places have an energetic resonance that affects our own energetic and pain bodies. In the Lakota tradition, they believe that places called nagi's affect our energetic body through our own memories, traumas, our own old projections of self, projections from others, other entities or beings, and ancestral ties. I have actually gotten sick since returning here after each of my three visits to South America. One in particular where my lymph nodes swelled to the size of golf balls and brought me into two months of flu-like symptoms, into panic and despair that I was physically dying. I always come back to a state of trust that my body has an innate capacity to surrender to its healing. After returning from my third and most recent trip, not only am I experiencing the physical repercussions, but the universe has been practically screaming at me for taking such a long return visit here.
My dog Lucy won't be with us in her material form much longer, as her kidneys and bladder are beginning to shut down. Lucy has been here for me during the most intense parts of my soul's journey, a source of unconditional love and comfort while I learned self-worth through the fluidity of boundary setting and to completely let go of many relationships not reciprocally serving. Lucy has been a helpful crutch for me during this time of needing extended periods of being with myself. Lucy has been speaking to me loudly, telling me it is time to let her go, to come out of the comfort of having her, to let go of the drama and stories embedded here, to embrace my connection to my emotions in a more contained way, to make the courageous dive into becoming more of the man I aspire to be by fully stepping into my new life, leaving nothing to fall back on here, to become one with the jungle, the mountains, the music, and the spirit of my gifts and intuition fueled by the all-encompassing nagi medicine of Peru.
Although I find myself on a bit of wobbly ground with Lucy, I am open to any courageous souls wanting to receive the medicine of the jungle before I completely leave this place behind next spring. It's a good time of year to find a place to feel at home, to give yourself the gift of relaxation, a safe place to bring all of your humanity to the table, and to learn the tools to love yourself beyond words. For those of you residing near me, this is an excellent time to experience my eight-week program, 'Be Your Own Savior,' all done in person. I am also offering cacao ceremonies for small intimate groups, kambo, and hape ceremonies. All the information can be found on my website. All my love to all during this pivotal and somewhat ugly time of human transformation. Big fucking hugs. Mwah xoxo.

P.S. Nebraska family and residents: Quit your bitching about the winter, enjoy the beauty of the snowfall, cuddle up with your loved ones, sit by the fire, have a warm cup of something, take some vitamin D, and shut the fuck up about it. All my love
